I've Seen...

I am truly blessed! The bible tells us,Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Prov. 22:6. I have seen my sons grow up to become handsome young men. (only a mother would say that) Two young men who have graduated from school. Two young men who have never depended on drugs. Two young men who have never committed crimes. Two young men who have never been sent to prison.

However, they are young men who have jobs. They are young men who are raising and supporting their families. For these things I am so proud to be their mother. I'm not saying my sons were always good. They were disciplined and had rules to follow. We had our ups and downs, but as I look back over the years, our ups out weigh the downs.

Peace at 50+

I praise the Lord for allowing me to see another day! When I open my eyes in the morning I have to thank Him! I must say I look at things differently now, than I did when I was 20 and 30 years old. I have aches and pains now that I never had, nor thought about when I was younger. Yet I will still praise Him! Psa. 34:1 says I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My conversations are not the same, my walk is not the same, my dress is not the same, my heart is not the same. I owe it all to Jesus. I am at peace! The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. Psa. 29:11

He Will Give You Peace!

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a disease of high blood sugar. When you have diabetes, your blood sugar is out of balance. Your body is not able to keep your blood sugar level at a healthy balance on its own. Knowing this means taking better care of yourself: by taking your medicine, checking your glucose ( sugar) level 2 or 3 times a day, and seeing your doctor on a regular basis. There are so many diabetic recipes out there that allows us to have delicious meals and scrumptious desserts. We have to be careful of our sugar intake. Instead of using regular sugar in our food, desserts, and drinks(coffee, tea, etc.) we have to use a sugar substitute. There was a time when my husband wouldn't drink any sugar-free drinks, now between him and my grandsons, I can't buy it fast enough. Remember just because we use a substitute, we should still watch our intake of sugar, everything in moderation.

What Is Your Legacy?

In a recent Sunday school lesson we discussed leaving a heritage for our family. We as grandparents want what's best for our grandchildren, just as we did for our children. We have to leave a legacy for them. A legacy is somewhat of an inheritance. When we think of inheritance, the first thing we think of is money, property, or assets. But what priceless legacy can we leave our grandchildren...a spiritual one. Our children normally follow whatever example is set before them, be it good or bad. So the life that we portray plays a vital role, not just in our life, but in the lives of our children, and those to come after them. It tells us in the bible, Psa. 127:3 that children are an heritage of the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

How do we want our grandchildren to remember us? Do we want to be remembered as the grandparents who bought them every thing they wanted? Do you want to be remembered as the grandparents who always played with them? How about being remembered as the grandparents who fixed their owies? I choose to leave a spiritual legacy. I want to be remembered for all of the afore mentioned, but I'd prefer to be remembered as the grandmother who's Holy Ghost filled, saved by grace, and washed in His blood. I'm the grandmother who's on a Christian journey. How do you want to be remembered?

Godly Living: Age 50+

The scripture lets us know that the latter will be greater than the past....

Hag. 2:9 What a beautiful feeling to be 50, half a century as my granddaughter would say. I used to think that 50 was old, it truly is a blessing. I take nothing for granted anymore. There was a time when I did. I used to say I, I, I, but I've come to know it's not me, but God. It's God who gets me up every morning! It's God who keeps me! Ps. 121:5 It's God who is my Provider! Shall I go on? I have a girlfriend who was upset when she turned 30, so imagine how she felt when she became 50. We have to be thankful, because tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

Grandmother Dearest

"Everytime A Child Is Born, A Grandparent Is Born Too" (gpfound@grandparenting.org)

I just love spending time with my grands. The joy of being grandparents! As grandparents we want to protect our grandchildren, just as we protected our children from the wicked ways of the world. Parents plant the seed in teaching them morals, ethics and spiritual beliefs. Grandparents have an extra quality that complement these teachings, it has a longer view of life.

My grandchildren are my heaven here on earth. When I'm away from them more than a day, they will call to tell me they miss me, and ask when are you coming home? When I'm sick, just to see their faces, and hear them say Maw-Maw are you okay? I'm praying for you. To hear them say Maw-Maw I love you and to give me a kiss each and everyday. Now do you see why they're my Heaven on Earth?

Splenda vs. Sugar

When I was first diagnosed with diabetes, I was in denial. I would not repeat to anyone that I was a diabetic. I finally came to my senses, and did what I had to do to take care of myself. The bible tells us that with His stripes we are healed. Isa. 53:5 I know now I must take my medicine, check my sugar levels daily, and see my physician regularly.

Three Reasons Why Splenda is Better Than Sugar:
1. Splenda doesn't increase blood glucose levels.
2. Splenda is a sugar substitute.
3. Splenda cuts calories in our daily diet.

Training To Be A Church Mother

What an honor to be considered a church mother. There is much to be learned, but with time and the Lord's help I know I can do all things. Phil 4:13
I did not expect to have this calling on my life, but I thank Pastor Bryant for his foresight.
